Back in 2009, when he was known as Wordsmith, Josh Smith told his college newspaper, The Wesleyan Argus, “You know, I’m a 21-year-old white, Jewish kid from upstate New York. I tend to write about the experiences I had growing up. The themes, I’d say, are: friendship; and a kind of love for your tribe, your crew; relationships, romantic and otherwise." He grew up in Woodstock, a "kind of" rural place, he said, which influenced his hip hop poetry. Now he's a denizen of Brooklyn. In “Mixtape/TMI,” he carefully balances meticulous cadences and wordplay with distorted soul and nostalgic samples.

This event is 21 and over.
